Building a home as framing a story

The cottage that became a muse

Moving into an 1800s Dorset cottage is like stepping into a whispered memory. Each weathered floorboard, each soft imperfection in the plaster, tells a tale older than one’s own.

In this gentle place, light doesn’t just fall; it lingers; pooling in corners like cream, softening shadows with a honeyed warmth that feels almost holy.

Creative vision behind the design of my house

It was the light that stirred something deep within me:
a desire to create imagery that mirrors the soul of the space.

As I worked on the renovation, stripping back to old bones and revealing original textures,
I found myself not only restoring the cottage, but letting it restore me.

The aesthetic that emerged was natural, vintage, and quietly romantic:

  • sun-faded linens,

  • scalloped ceramics,

  • bowls of stone fruit and

  • scattered petals.

A celebration of imperfection.

These photographs, all shot within the new heart of the home,
are a reflection of that tender inspiration.

Conscious creative partnerships

In shaping my first home, I’ve chosen to collaborate only with brands whose values echo my own: sustainability, craftsmanship, and the quiet beauty of natural materials.

From hand-finished lighting to responsibly sourced flooring, every detail has been selected not just for style, but for soul.

These partnerships with thoughtful makers have allowed me to create visuals that speak to customers who care - people like me.

If you're a conscious homeware brand seeking to reach kindred spirits through storytelling that feels lived-in, I’d love to co-create with you on your brand projects by providing my creative vision, photography and videography.

Cottagecore sensibility in the recipes & rituals

A vintage cottagecore sensibility runs through them:

  • baked rice pudding under a crisp layer of sugar,

  • warm nectarines caught in the afternoon glow,

  • strawberries macerated in Campari and memory.

Each image was styled not just to look beautiful,
but to feel like something lived-in and loved
, echoing the comforting weight of heritage and handmade care.
