Wildflower Summer
An ode to slow English summers, botanical abundance and the romance of gathering outdoors.
Project challenge
Set amongst wild buttercup meadows beneath the height of the June sun, this project was created to evoke the feeling of an endless countryside afternoon elderflower cocktails shared in tall grass, linen dresses warmed by golden light and the quiet luxury of slowing down long enough to notice the season unfolding around us.
Inspired by the floral, delicate botanicals within the spirits themselves, the creative direction leaned into softness, nostalgia and a deeply immersive connection to nature. Rather than simply photographing products, the aim was to build an entire atmosphere around them; one that felt painterly, cinematic and emotionally transportive.
Creative Approach
The visual language of the shoot was built around natural movement, warmth and tactile storytelling.
Buttercups became a recurring motif throughout the imagery, mirroring the pale golden hue of the elderflower liqueur whilst grounding the project firmly within the British countryside. Soft blush linen, woven baskets, vintage inspired textures and rustic wood were chosen to create a sense of effortless outdoor elegance refined but never overstyled.
Lighting was intentionally approached in a natural and cinematic way, embracing the harshness of midday summer sun whilst balancing it with soft shadows and warmth in post production. This allowed the imagery to retain a dreamlike quality whilst still feeling authentic and alive.
The result was a collection of images that feel less like traditional product photography and more like fragments of a story fleeting moments captured during a golden summer afternoon.
Every detail was designed to feel sensory and immersive.
Condensation running down oversized cocktail glasses.
Bare feet hidden amongst wildflowers.
Linen catching the breeze.
Sunlight striking glass bottles in the heat of the day.
The styling focused on creating scenes that viewers could emotionally place themselves within, allowing the products to feel naturally integrated into a wider lifestyle narrative rather than positioned as static objects.
Food pairings and tablescapes were kept intentionally relaxed and abundant olives, rustic nibbles and layered linens creating the feeling of an impromptu countryside aperitif shared amongst friends.
Approachable Elegance
The imagery balances softness with richness, creating a world that feels nostalgic yet elevated.
Warm highlights, slightly muted tones and painterly contrast were used to emulate the feeling of old summer film photography whilst maintaining modern refinement. Shallow depth of field and movement throughout the imagery helped soften the boundaries between subject and landscape, allowing the meadow itself to become part of the story.
The overall palette drew from nature butter yellow, faded blush, warm cream, sunlit greens and weathered wood tones.
Seasonal Inspiration
At the heart of this project was a desire to capture the fleeting beauty of early summer in the British countryside.
The shoot was timed intentionally around the height of meadow season, when buttercups stretch endlessly towards the sun and elderflower begins to perfume the hedgerows. This sense of transience became central to the storytelling celebrating ingredients, landscapes and moments that exist only briefly before slipping quietly into memory.
The floral notes of the elderflower liqueur naturally guided the direction of the imagery, inspiring scenes that felt soft, sunlit and deeply connected to the land. Every frame was approached with the feeling of preserving summer at its peak; bottling not only flavour, but atmosphere itself.
Brand Storytelling
My approach to brand storytelling always begins with emotion rather than product alone.
For this campaign, the goal was to create imagery that felt immersive and aspirational whilst remaining grounded in authenticity and place. The spirits became part of a wider narrative surrounding outdoor living, connection, slow rituals and the romance of British seasonality.
By weaving the products naturally into moments of movement, dining and landscape, the imagery invites the viewer into the story rather than simply presenting an advertisement. The result feels cinematic yet intimate, creating an emotional connection that lingers long after viewing.
Every creative decision, from styling to colour grading, was designed to reinforce this feeling of nostalgic luxury and effortless botanical living.
The Final Story
More than a lifestyle campaign, this project became a celebration of seasonality, slowness and the emotional power of storytelling through imagery.
A world where elderflower cocktails are enjoyed beneath open skies, wildflowers sway in warm air and summer feels beautifully untamed.
Elegant yet approachable.
Refined yet deeply connected to nature.
A love letter to botanical living and the fleeting beauty of the British summer.
Outcome
The final imagery became a seamless blend of lifestyle storytelling and elevated product photography, capturing not only the drinks themselves but the feeling surrounding them. The collection evokes warmth, escapism and seasonality inviting the viewer into an idyllic British summer filled with wildflowers, botanical cocktails and long golden afternoons outdoors.
Through natural light, painterly composition and immersive styling, the campaign created a world that feels both aspirational and deeply authentic. The products are woven naturally into moments of slow living and connection, allowing them to feel elegant yet approachable rather than overly curated or commercial.
The resulting visuals feel cinematic, nostalgic and emotionally rich, perfectly suited for modern luxury brands seeking storytelling-led content with depth and atmosphere. More than a seasonal campaign, the project became a celebration of nature, ritual and the quiet beauty of summer lived slowly.
